American national treasure and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has a magnificent collection of cars, but he once splashed a solid $600k on two Rolls-Royce cars just because of Mike Tyson.
Shaq’s relationship with cars is quite unusual.
The multi-millionaire sports superstar loves a lavish ride, but only if it fits his seven-foot frame – which rules out most sports cars.
Instead, he’s an SUV lover, and with that in mind, he once splashed out a heavyweight $600k on two luxury beasts alongside the big-framed Mike Tyson.

Shaquille O’Neal once bought Rolls-Royce twins after Mike Tyson splashed the cash
Despite having to modify a range of cars to fit his size, celebrity NBA alumni Shaquille O’Neal has quite a fascination with high-end luxury SUVs. Particularly Rolls-Royce’s.
But some cars in his collection aren’t as thought-through as others.
He’s quite accustomed to an impulse purchase.

Speaking in an interview with Graham Besinger, Shaq revealed he bought two Rolls-Royce cars in the snap of a finger just because Mike Tyson did too.
“Me and Tyson were at the Rolls-Royce dealership, and Tyson bought three,” he said.
“I wasn’t going to buy three but I wasn’t going to let him out-do me. So I bought two.”
“$600,000 going down the drain.”
Not a bad day’s work for the dealer who earned commission on those purchases.
It’s worth noting that the anecdote from Shaq was in response to his excessive spending habits that he cut out, thanks to a financial advisor.
The interview also touched on many topics close to Shaq’s heart, like school bullies and the reasons behind his extremely generous charity givebacks.
Shaq’s Rolls-Royce collection is just as big as him

It’s not the first time that the big man has spent big money on big cars. In fact, there are more Rolls-Royce impulse buys in his garage, alongside some more methodical supercharged kits that really highlight his love for the brand.
He previously dropped a cool mil at another Rolls-Royce dealership, buying three in a heartbeat after the salesman claimed that he couldn’t afford one. One of these ended up being a gift to fellow NBA star LeBron James.
As for the cornucopia of his collection, the basketball phenom and business guru upgraded his Phantom at West Coast Customs with a stellar ‘Superman’ Mansory kit, making the car worth $1.5m.
West Coast Customs also upgraded his Cullinan in the same Superman vein, this time wrapping it in a crimson red.
It’s not just Shaquille O’Neal who loves impulsive Rolls-Royce purchases either, as Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather recently came back from a shopping trip with a pair of ‘Double Rs’.
