Sułoszowa

Sułoszowa, a small town in Poland, is quickly becoming a tourist destination for the weirdest of reasons.

The village, which is located not far from Krakow, is unique because it is clustered around a single street.

And so that means that each of the 5,800 or so residents that live there literally share the same address.

Sułoszowa is a tiny village in the south of Poland, roughly 180 miles from the capital Warsaw.

The first historical references to this tiny village date back to the 1300s and, in modern times, the population peaked in the early 2010s, when the town could count on over 6,000 residents.

Just less than that live in the town today, but Sułoszowa is now becoming tourist hotspot precisely because of its weird geography.

The town literally only consists of one street, simply known as DW773, which is around 9 km (4 mi) long and is the de facto address of every single resident and business in town.

This is definitely unusual, but not unheard of.

Geography always plays a key role when it comes to strange towns, but it’s not the only driving factor.

The small city of Varosha in Cyprus, for example, became a ghost town overnight due to geopolitical reasons.

And then there’s the curious case of Whittier, a town in Alaska that only consists of one building.

Every single person in town, around 300 people in total, lives under the same roof.

In the case of Sułoszowa, the surrounding landscape probably explains why the whole town is basically just one street.

On either side of the main road, Sułoszowa is surrounded by acres of field as far as the eye can see, this is especially impressive when you zoom out on Google Earth.

The town probably deemed it wise to simply develop everything around that one street, rather than expanding in all kinds of directions, disturbing the environment.
