This Mirror Hotel in North Carolina looks absolutely unreal

This incredible ‘Mirror Hotel’ in Asheville, North Carolina, offers one-of-a-kind ‘invisible’ cabins.

Opening up in May last year, the Mirror Hotel comprises 18 cabins, set on a 55-acre lot.

The cabins are quite unlike anything we’ve seen before, with each other covered in mirrored panels meaning they more or less completely disappear into the background.

They’re a bit like the invisibility cloak in Harry Potter.

The Mirror Hotel offers stunning views

The three-bedroom luxury cabins stand 4.8 meters (16ft) above ground, meaning they offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The hotel took two years to build with each structure boasting an impressive 139 square meters (1,500sq-ft) of living space, including a deck where you can soak up more of those beautiful views.

But maybe not quite as far-ranging as the ones offered at this crane hotel in Amsterdam. 

The cabins are kitted out with all the modern amenities you’d expect, including high-speed internet, heating, air-conditioning, smart TVs, and a fully-fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, coffee machine, and more.

Outside, the sprawling deck houses a barbeque grill and pizza oven, as well as a firepit. There’s even a hot tub you can relax in while you gaze up at the stars.

To combat potentially view-spoiling light pollution, low lighting is used wherever possible.

And to keep local wildlife safe, the designers used a specially designed protective coating that lets birds know there’s a solid surface on the horizon. Smart stuff, right?

The cabins blend tranquility and luxury

The Mirror Hotel’s owner Joanna Cahill also runs a successful glamping – or glam-camping – business and came up with the idea for the unique mirrored cabins after gathering opinions from repeat customers.

“What we heard the most is that [guests] wanted privacy,” Cahill told Travel + Leisure. “It is built to be everything people love about glamping without everything they don’t.”

Cahill says the property will be especially appealing to those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and feel closer to nature, without compromising on luxury.

“People who appreciate architecture and don’t want to be in crowded areas,” Cahill said.

“People who love five-star hotels but don’t necessarily want to hear their neighbors.”

Room rates vary depending on when you stay, but you can book the cabins from $699 per night.
