After a video went viral of two motorcyclists using secret gestures, one biker has now revealed all.

Most road users only know one hand gesture which communicates with other drivers, and flipping the bird isn’t always the most productive method of communication.

But for motorcyclists, it’s different, as they often use their hands to communicate on the road.

In a recent viral TikTok, two bikers were seen chuckling as they tapped their helmets, leaving viewers rather perplexed.

Motorcyclists go viral for secret gestures that nobody understands

TikTok is quickly becoming quite the haven for road users as the algorithm and trends shift towards cars and lifestyle tips.

Recently, one woman made a huge splash as she revealed a cheap hack to transform her old Mazda, leaving viewers motivated to follow suit.

In a new video posted to the platform, user ‘Porfessorcbr’ went viral.

The short clip showed the riders slowing down in front of a parked police car, before tapping their helmets and bursting into hysterics.

“Ha ha, very funny,” the officer replied through a loud speaker.

Despite hitting four million likes and 40 million views in just three days, many viewers didn’t get the inside joke.

“What’s the head tap supposed to mean?” one user wrote.

Another added, “I don’t get it.”

Luckily enough, another biker has chimed in to save the day.

So, what do they mean?

According to the biker ‘cwwark’ on TikTok, there are numerous secret gestures that they perform to advise fellow bikers of road hazards or certain road users.

Notably, this creator revealed that the head taps indicate there are police nearby, usually as a warning to watch their speed.

The sarcastic prompts from the undercover cop in the previous video now make sense.

There are other gestures too.

A two-fingered wave is a signal of ‘stay safe’, while there are discrete ways to advise other riders to speed up, slow down, or stop completely.

Much like car users, there are also turn signals that are often used, such as putting your arm out for a left turn.

While these gestures aren’t quite as fear-striking as seeing the Bat-Signal in the sky, it comes as yet another TikTok tip that can help you make sense of what’s happening out on the roads.
