Business jet broke two transatlantic speed records on its first international flight

The upgraded Gulfstream G700 business jet broke two records in one day.

More to the point, the Gulfstream broke both records on international, transatlantic flights, which is what this jet is for.

Elon Musk will be elated.

Gulfstream is one of the go-to manufacturers when it comes to business jets.

Rick Ross, Elon Musk, and Kim Kardashian all own one.

But the thing is, Elon Musk and Kim Kardashian own a G650, and Rick Ross owns a G550, whereas the model you see here is the G700, which is larger.

Oh, and faster.

Two transoceanic records in a single day

The jet took off from Savannah, Georgia, and landed in Doha, Qatar, 13 hours and 16 minutes later.

It covered the 7,700-mile (6,711 nautical miles, to be exact) distance flying at Mach 0.88 – or 675 mph.

But this wasn’t enough for Gulfstream, as the aerospace company then decided to fly from Doha to Paris.

The 3,400-mile journey (2,953 nautical miles) took 6 hours and 15 minutes, and the jet was able to fly even faster, traveling at Mach 0.90 – or 690 mph.

Gulfstream G700 – Spec and pricing

The new G700 is powered by twin Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, and it has a range of 7,500 nautical miles (8,600+ miles) at Mach 0.85 – equivalent to 650 mph or 1050 km/h.

More to the point, the interior was overhauled completely, but with subtle changes.

There are fewer angles and smoother curves to make it feel even more spacious, and there’s a grand suite in the rear, which is essentially the main bedroom.

The windows have been slightly redesigned and there’s circadian lighting to reduce jet lag.

The updated Gulfstream G700 starts at around $75 million, with deliveries set to commence next year.
