Game of Thrones’ prequel House of the Dragon is finally here and the internet has opinions

The long-awaited Game of Thrones’ prequel series House of the Dragon is finally available on HBO.

There’s been a long wait and a lot of hype around the series.

So now it’s here, what do people make of it?

House of the Dragon is based on Fire & Blood, a 2018 novel written by George R. R. Martin, the creator of the series.

The series is a spin-off, but also an attempt to win back fans after the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones.

Fans loved the first seven seasons but found the eighth one a bit lazy and uninteresting.

Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, it tells the story of House Targaryen and the events that led to Targaryen civil war.

In the series, the Targaryen civil war is also known as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’, which served as an inspiration for the title.

In the new HBO series, you’ll find all the familiar elements that made people love Game of Thrones.

Dusty-colored palaces, overelaborate chandeliers and complex characters with interesting haircuts.

But has it worked?

Let’s see what the internet is saying.

One Twitter user commented: “House of the Dragon sucked me back into Game of Thrones so fast I’m honestly embarassed for myself”.

Another wrote: “House of the Dragon has started amazingly. Matt Smith on his way to being a brilliant antagonist.”

One fan said she was already hooked, saying “Matt Smith is absolutely smashing it” and “this show is amazing”.

Even famed show host Conan O’Brien tweeted about the series, resorting to irony.

He asked: “Will I understand House of the Dragon if I haven’t seen House of Gucci?”

So far so good but the series will have 10 episodes, so we’ll have to wait and see.
