Love Jurassic Park? Here's 5 Films/Shows that you'll also enjoy

Jurassic Park revolutionised the film industry when it was first released back in 1993.

It’s sequel trilogy has reignited that love for dinosaurs we all have – and has even shown the folks over at Disney how to do a proper job (*cough* Star Wars *cough*).

But are there any other decent dinosaur-related watches for fans to sink their teeth into? Yes, yes there are.

Here are just five options:

1. Primeval

First airing back in 2007, Primeval was seen a rival to BBC’s Doctor Who. Going up against such an iconic show was never going to be easy.

But with time-travelling dinosaurs and creatures from the future wrecking havoc in the present day as well as engaging characters and British humour, it did an excellent job of establishing itself as a truly original show.

It also birthed a Canadian spin-off show, Primeval: New World. Both were sadly made extinct before their time. But with reboots being especially on brand these days, perhaps it’s time to bring this TV show back.

2. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous

Admittedly, this entry is cheating a little bit. Jurassic World: Camp Creataceous is a companion series to the Jurassic World Trilogy.

With four seasons already available on Netflix, it’s perfect to binge watch.

Teens attending an adventure camp on the opposite side of the infamous Isla Nublar must band together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc on the island.

Sure the premise is essentially the same as three of the Jurassic Park/World films – but if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.

3. Terra Nova

When Earth is threatened with extinction in the year 2149, the future of humanity lies in the past.

The Shannon family transport themselves back millions of years, where colonies of humans have a second chance to build a civilisation.

Another original show that was axed before its time, Terra Nova blended sci-fi and dinosaurs rather well indeed.

Like Primeval, it at least deserves a follow-up film to tie up some loose ends and fill in the massive gap that there is for dinosaur-related content on our TV screens.

4. Walking with Dinosaurs

If you want something suitable and educational for all ages, why not check out Walking With Dinosaurs?

From the early days of the dinosaurs to their demise 65 million years ago, this neat TV show gives you a crash course in everything you need to know.

It’ll also help you get a new generation interested in dinosaurs which is always a bonus.

The BBC show also had two companion series, set before and after the time of the dinosaurs.

Walking With Monsters and Walking With Beasts will also tickle your fancy so be sure to give them a look too.

5. The Lost World (1960)

If you want to go old school, do it properly with The Lost World.

A group of thrill seekers and others discover a valley filled with vicious dinosaurs and oversize arachnids – unfortunately, their chopper breaks down, leaving them stranded in one of the deadliest environments on Earth.

You’ll laugh more at this film than you should given it was probably more high brow at the time. But I’ll wager you’ll still enjoy watching it.

It could even be great fun to watch with some friends for movie night. You’re welcome.

Bonus: Prehistoric Planet

Experience the world of dinosaurs like never before in this epic looking docuseries on Apple +.

With executive producer Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian) and the producers of Planet Earth, it’ll showcase dinsoaurs like never before.

With David Attenborough and an incredible score by Hans Zimmer (does he do any other kind?) Prehistoric Planet will be a five-night documentary event coming to Apple TV+ on May 23.

Obviously, we haven’t watched it yet but with all of these ingredients having gone into making it, it’s bound to be something very special.

Jurassic World Dominion will be released in theatres on June 10.
