No one does publicity stunts like Red Bull but the Austrian company has really outdone itself on this occasion.

This time, Red Bull F1 Racing and Daniel Ricciardo decided to rally a Formula One car through the desert in the Australian Outback.

The video was filmed ahead of the Australian F1 Grand Prix and it features the iconic RB7, the Formula One car that won the title in 2011 with Sebastian Vettel at the wheel.

What’s crazy is Red Bull didn’t even make any changes to the car.

Apart from the off-road tires, of course.

Red Bull Racing are unsurprisingly very proud of the RB7 because it is one of the most dominant Formula One cars ever built.

With it, Red Bull claimed all but one pole position in 2011, won 12 out of 19 races and only failed to finish in the top five twice.

It is also the first-ever F1 title winner fitted with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).

In theory, we could call the RB7 a hybrid due to the small electric motor through which the energy recovered under braking is deployed.

Even so, it’s a far cry from the Formula One cars that are used today.

A 2023 F1 car is powered by a 1.6-liter V6 paired with an electric motor and an energy recovery system.

Meanwhile the RB7 in the video is powered by a V8 and only uses a small KERS unit.

Red Bull also brought a custom built off-road truck to the desert track, and a helicopter, too.

Mind you, the truck only makes a brief appearance in the clip because it just can’t keep up with the 750-horsepower V8 in the Formula One car.

Not even in the desert.
