Star Trek has had quite the resurgence in the past couple of years.
It all started when J.J. Abrams jump-started the dying franchise with his movies Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond.
And Star Trek Discovery brought the franchise back to the small screen via Paramount+, followed by Short Treks, Picard, Lower Decks, Prodigy, and the soon-to-be-released Strange New Worlds.
But if all that’s not enough for you Trekkies out there, get your hands on a controller because Dramatic Labs has now announced Star Trek: Resurgence.
The game will be set in the year 2380, in the era immediately following The Next Generation feature films which ended with the TNG swan song Nemesis.
So the game will be set roughly 19 years before the time period of the current Picard series on Paramount+.
It will play as a dialog-driven role-playing game.
If you know anything about Telltale’s Game of Thrones or Tales from the Borderlands games you will feel right at home with Resurgence.
The developers, Dramatic Labs, promise an all-new crew on an all-new starship. They also promise character cameos that are fan favorites such as Ambassador Spock!
Additionally to the promise of cameos, Dramatic Labs promised an authentic single-player experience without microtransactions, DLC, NFT’s or other additional monetization models that plage the video game industry.
Star Trek: Resurgence will find its way to you later this year for PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox Series X/S systems.
