The astonishing specs of $3 million Nio EP9 Chinese electric supercar

At $3 million dollars, here’s the bang you get for your buck with the Nio EP9 electric supercar.

The Chinese all-electric supercar offers performance and power – said not only to rival but actually surpass a Formula One trackstar.

And it isn’t the only Chinese automotive brand making waves with their concept cars and EVs.

The Nio EP9 comes with a lengthy list of both lap records on top of those performance specs.

When it was tested in 2017, the Nio EP9 sped away with the record for lap time.

Six minutes and 45 seconds at the Nürburgring and two minutes and forty seconds at the Circuit of the Americas.

Nio EP9, which stands for the ‘Electric Performance 9’, is almost ready and set to go on the market.

The Nio EP9 was debuted in 2016.

This little known but elite Chinese automotive brand has been leading the EV market with range and solid-state batteries topping their agenda.

David Hilton, the senior design director of the Nio EP9, said the brand was still developing and testing the car after that date.

In fact, new patents were filed as late as 2019.

The EP9 packs a seriously powerful punch with an unprecedented one megawatt of maximum power for the brand.

This is only topped by the Lamborghini Lanzador concept.

The EP9 boasts an additional 777-volt powertrain.

In addition, the Nio EP9 charges rapidly with an interchangeable battery system alongside cooling technology.

The battery takes 45 minutes to charge fully while swapping it out takes just eight minutes.

It offers 1,341 horsepower, 1,091 pound-feet of maximum torque at its motor, and 4,671 pound-feet of maximum torque at its wheel.

Touted as one of the fastest ever electric cars, it can reach a top speed of 314 km/h (195 mph).

It goes from 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in just 7.1 seconds – or, “five heartbeats”, as Nio put it.

Its downforce of 24,019 newtons, created by its large rear wing, helps the supercar stick to the road by propelling it forward.

Four inboard motor generating units “allow for fast cornering and track stability levels”.

This is unusual for an EV.

Four-way adjustable dampers are paired with a hydraulic third actuator to round out the Chinese supercar.

The latest on the vehicle’s interior are under wraps – although the brand’s other EVs favor sustainability.

Eco-friendly cushioning and sustainably-sourced wood are expected to be paired with an advanced tech display focussed on entertainment, information, and performance.

While the vehicle first launched in 2016, the tech is still cutting edge.

What we do know is that the cockpit has four screens.

A long verticle iPad-like screen sits in the center acting as an infotainment center above the gear stick, while a retractable passenger side screen slides up and down from the dashboard.
