Imagine you’re admiring the night sky through a telescope and seeing an unidentifiable flying object (UFO) flying across the moon.

Dr. Sebastian Felix Voltmer, an astronomer, caught a UFO flying near the moon and was left startled when he saw it.

UFO stories aren’t uncommon nowadays, and they often turn out to be something else.

For instance, some pilots claimed to have seen a UFO, but later, their theory was debunked by scientists.

However, Dr. Voltmer shared footage of what he saw from his C11 telescope, and it was definitely something unknown because nobody can confirm its true nature just yet.

He made it clear that he wasn’t a UFO fanatic and carried out checks to see if he mistook a satellite for a UFO.

He first thought it was the International Space Station (ISS), but it doesn’t normally fly across the moon at such high speeds.

What’s more, it wasn’t a meteor either because it didn’t have a visible tail while moving.

Plus, the International Meteor Organisation did not have records of meteors passing by when Dr. Voltmer was filming, as per grewi.de.

So what was it?

Based on his telescope’s plane of focus, he estimates that whatever the object may be, it must be more than 500 meters away.

“I actually assume that it was at an altitude of 100 to 200 kilometers, i.e. in the transition to the so-called Low Earth Orbit,” he told BILD.

The footage that Dr. Voltmer shared doesn’t show the exact shape or size of the object, as it was moving at a very high speed.

Experts expressed their opinions on this sighting, and they believe what he saw was a bunch of Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.

Groups of such satellites pass in quick succession in the Low Earth Orbit.

So far, we have seen a large amount of reported unidentified object sightings.

While many have turned out to be false, some – like Arizona’s ‘Phoenix Lights’ UFO sighting – remain a mystery.
