Cadillac has teased its Opulent Velocity concept and it looks like it will be a future performance EV.
The teaser video reveals little, but Cadillac seems to be driving its sporty V-series forward into the electric age.
Although, arguably this 2021 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum is the sportiest Cadillac.
This model is even grenade and bulletproof.
The concept will be revealed later this year to celebrate 20 years of the V-series.

The tantalizing video appears to show blurry images of an an electric sports sedan.
However, rather than calling it an ‘EV’, it’s referred to as a “zero emissions” vehicle.
It’s an apparent peek into the future of the brand’s performance-oriented V-series.
Cadillac’s V-series vehicles already include the 668-hp CT5-V Blackwing and 472-hp CT4-V Blackwing.

And, according to the brand, the series brings “bold American craftsmanship, technology and performance to the street and track.”
“V-Series represents the purest expression of the passion that exists at the core of the Cadillac brand,” they added.
However, Cadillac has made statements to announce that, these will be their last gas-burning V-branded models as they stride forward into the future.
This news means the future of the company’s performance lineup up in the air, however, today’s announcement (13 March) is giving a sense of direction: a sporty electric Cadillac.
“Opulent Velocity is designed to foreshadow a zero emissions expression of performance and modern luxury leadership,” Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of Cadillac Global Design, said.

“We will share more later this year, so stay tuned.”
While the information and clear images are scant, per the brand’s announcement, the car will “celebrate the past, present and future” of the V-series line.
The name signifies not only “the duality of the Cadillac brand,” but also “the evolution of Cadillac’s revered sense of opulence, while envisioning the future of a high velocity performance driving experience.”
What we can see in the video above are brief flashes on an angular design.
It’s thought that it will mirror the style of the Celestiq flagship.
The latest iterations of Cadillac’s V-Series, the 2025 CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing, debuted in January.
Their look is new, but they maintain the “renowned power, refinement and performance enthusiasts expect, on and off the track”.
However, it remains to be seen how Cadillac can emulate the feel of the gas-powered Blackwings in an electric V-series car.

After gaining her BA Hons in French and English at the University of Nottingham, Amelia embarked on a vocational diploma from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). This led to numerous opportunities, from interning at Vogue to being on the small team that launched Women’s Health magazine in the UK, which was named the PPA Consumer magazine of the year for three years running. As Health, Beauty and Fitness editor, Amelia personally received a Johnson & Johnson Award and was shortlisted for both PPA and BSME titles. From researching the most ‘Google-able’ key terms to producing evergreen content - it’s been a time of hard work, growth, and success for the editorial team and the Supercar Blondie website. “I like to think of myself as a ‘method journalist’. In other words: I live and breathe whatever I am writing about. When writing about fitness, I trained as a personal trainer, and as a beauty editor, I completed an ‘expert’ in scent diploma with the Fragrance Foundation. “During my tenure at Supercar Blondie, however, I did something I never thought possible: I passed my driving test at the age of 36. One day I’d love to train as a mechanic to better understand what happens under the hood, too. “My sweet spot is providing readers with a ‘takeaway’ (read: something new they didn’t know before) after reading every one of my stories. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the automotive world, I know the experts and bodies in the field to rely on to provide our readers with an informative and thought-provoking story every time they visit the site.”
