The best cars from the Fast and Furious movies

The Fast and Furious movie series is two decades deep, with two final films on the way.

That kind of screen catalog has given stacks of cars that have caught our eye and made us contemplate our wallets.

It was hard to just pick 10, but these are the ones couldn’t get out of our heads.

Quiz: Can you tell which movies these cars are from?

1. Toyota Supra | The Fast and the Furious

The MkIV Toyota Supra was the hero car that appeared on screen late in the original 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious.

It was a junkyard wreck that Torretto and Co. build up with “overnight parts from Japan” to have Brian O’Connor drive.

Brian promised Dom a 10-second car earlier in the film, and the epic final quarter-mile drag race between the two proved he had built one.

2. Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R | 2 Fast 2 Furious

First of all, can we talk about how this may be the most ridiculous and also best sequel name of all time.

But what some of those who are ultra-fans may not know is there’s actually a mini-movie between these two blockbusters.

And The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious is where the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R makes its debut.

In that short, Brian picks up the R34 at a random used car lot.

Which is highly unlikely due to the illegality of the vehicle on USA soil.

3. Mitsubishi Eclipse | The Fast and the Furious

Besides the random Honda Civics with neon underglow chasing tracker trailers, the Mitsubishi Eclipse at Dodger Stadium was really the first car in The Fast and the Furious.

Sadly, it met its demise midway through the film through exploding NOS.

And while we weep for the loss of the lime-green Eclipse, its demise means we got the Supra above!

4. Dodge Charger | The Fast and the Furious

Originally seen popping wheelies at the end of the Fast and the Furious, the Dodge Charger has appeared in multiple films as Dom’s go-to ride.

Can you blame him when it wheelies on cue?

  • It first flipped after hitting a truck trailer in the first film.
  • At the end of Toyko Drift Dom rocks up in a cameo to race against the new Drift King.
  • Letty rebuilds the original for Dom in Fast & Furious.
  • In Fast Five it gets crushed by another car on this list.
  • In Furious 7 it jumps out of a parking garage
  • In Fate of the Furious it has a rocket strapped to the back.

Who knows where it will end up next.

5. Veilside Mazda RX-7 | The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

The character Han Seoul-Oh was an instant series favorite.

Han died in a fiery crash in Tokyo Drift (for those playing at home, this is the third film released. But it actually takes place between the events of the sixth and seventh movies).

In Tokyo Drift, he pilots a Mazda RX-7 with a Veilside body kit on it – basically making it look like a spaceship.

The orange and black colour scheme is awesome. And Han drifting around two ladies at the traffic lights to get their phone numbers is iconic.

6. 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback | The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Perhaps the most unique vehicle in all of the Fast and Furious franchise is the Mustang Fastback.

In a series famous for Skylines and Dodge Chargers, this sort of married both worlds together.

Sean Boswell borrows his father’s empty chassis and throws an RB-engine out of a Nissan Skyline in it.

The result is a cannon drift car from the heavens.

7. Gurkha LAPV | Fast Five

When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joined the franchise in Fast Five he needed a vehicle to match his personality.

The Gurkha LAPV – short for Light Armored Patrol Vehicle – did just that.

The Rock barrelling through tiny streets in this monster set the tone for the new direction of the franchise.

8. Chevrolet Corvette Sport Stingray | Fast Five

While the series is quite Dodge-heavy when it comes to muscle cars, a Chevrolet Corvette Sport Stingray found itself flying at the beginning of the film Fast Five.

Dom saves Brian from hanging off of a speeding train, then the pair use the car to launch off of the side of a cliff.

It’s one of the most eye-popping stunts in the entire series.

That poor car.

9. Honda S2000 | The Fast and the Furious

The series is approaching its 10th movie and with so many gear changes, the angriest downshift of the whole series is from a car that apparently has more than $100k under the hood.

The villain of the film, Johnny Tran’s Race Wars special – Honda S2000.

It’s a bit of an unfortunate name for a race meet though…

10. Chevrolet Camaro Yenko | 2 Fast 2 Furious

Brian says “…and that Yenko will snap a speedo in five seconds flat”.

The math might be a bit wrong, but the Yenko Camaro was definitely a welcome change to the tuner car-heavy series at the time.

But we do have a bit of a soft spot for Yuki’s pink Honda S2000 too.
