From coat hangers to snakes, these are the weirdest things collected by celebrities

Most celebrities have a lot of money, which means they’ve got a lot of money to throw around.

And some of them spend their hard-earned cash on some truly weird collections.

After all, you can only buy so many villas, yachts, and private jets.

From Nicolas Cage’s two-headed snake to Penélope Cruz’s obsession with coat hangers, these are some of the weirdest items collected by celebrities.

5. Angelina Jolie’s obsession with daggers

Something you may not know about Angelina Jolie is that she’s an avid collector of daggers.

She must’ve felt right at home playing Lara Croft, the dagger-throwing protagonist of Tomb Raider.

She apparently started collecting knives at an early age, attributing it to a family tradition.

So, best not to get on the wrong side of her.

4. Nicolas Cage and his two-headed snake

Nicolas Cage spent around $80,000 on a two-headed snake named Harvey, after Batman’s Harvey Dent (ie, ‘Two-Face’) character.

The snake had a rare condition called bicephaly, which meant it two heads and two brains but only one body.

Cage said Harvey had full use of both heads but noted “one was clearly more dominant than the other”.

In 2008, Cage decided to donate the 14-year old snake to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans where it passed away about a year later.

3. Mike Tyson’s gold bathtub

The former heavyweight Mike Tyson could easily be included on this list many times over because he owns a bunch of crazy things, including a ‘pet’ Bengal tiger, which he used to keep in his Las Vegas home.

He also once spent $2.2 million on a bathtub made entirely out of 24k gold.

He reportedly bought it in 1988 for his second wife Monica Turner.

Unfortunately the tub wasn’t enough to keep his wife around and the pair split a year later.

2. Ben Stiller’s Star Trek collection

Weird Collections

Actor Ben Stiller is obsessed with Star Trek memorabilia and gadgets.

He collects anything Star Trek-related and has some really rare and expensive items.

For example, he owns two pairs of Spok ears signed by Leonard Nimoy himself.

He once spent $27,500 on a lifesize Gorn action figure, an alien from the Star Trek series.

And finally, number one on the ‘weird collections’ list is…

1. Penélope Cruz’s coat hanger fetish

Yes, you read that right.

Penélope Cruz apparently loves coat hangers, especially the non-metal ones, and she’s made it public that she collects them.

She apparently owns more than 500 different coat hangers.

But hey, at least they’re practical.
