A 1967 Ford Mustang fastback that spent 40 years parked in a garden turned out to be a super-rare hidden gem.
The Ford Mustang was first launched in April 1964 and was initially available as a Hardtop or Convertible with a Fastback version added to the line-up a few months later.
The Mustang has been a huge hit for Ford with more than 10 million sold across its seven generations.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any rare or obscure examples out there – much like this one that was abandoned for decades.

The 1967 Ford Mustang was in a terrible state
Sadly, car enthusiasts are unearthing long-forgotten Ford Mustangs all too often – such as this 1967 model that is prime for a restoration, or this one that ended up at the bottom of a swamp for almost 30 years.
While this particular 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback didn’t spend time underwater, it’s safe to stay its still had a pretty hard time.
The Mustang’s once bright Acapulco Blue paint was faded and covered in rust, while several pieces of the car appeared to be falling off.
The inside hadn’t fared much better and looked to be completely beyond repair with missing components and ripped fabric.
The classic car would have originally been fitted with an S-code 6.4 liter V8, but unfortunately, that was also long gone and had been replaced by a ‘truck motor’. Ouch.
However, in July last year, the car was eventually rescued by John from the Lost and Found Classics YouTube channel, who bought the Mustang off its 85-year-old owner.
It turned out to be a super-rare example
Despite its lengthy list of problems and issues, John thought the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback was quite the find.
And he was proven correct after he ordered a Marti Report – a detailed documentation service for old Fords – and found a little more about the car’s history.
Incredibly, the once-stunning vehicle was just one of nine ever made to feature its specific color, trim package, and drivetrain.
When it rolled off the production line, the vehicle would have had its 6.4 liter V8 – capable of producing 320 horsepower – as well as a host of swish extras such as a deluxe woodgrain steering wheel and an air conditioning system.
In fact, the vintage Mustang was so rare John said he felt compelled to begin a full restoration.
So here’s hoping we see it returned to its former glory very soon.
