This 1993 Mustang Cobra spent almost 30 years packed away inside a shipping container before it was hauled out and given a much needed cleanup.

The third-generation Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is a rare find and is one of only 4,993 ever made.

This particular Cobra has a tragic backstory, which led it to spend 28 years in a shipping container.

Fortunately, an expert car detailer was called in to get it looking as good as new.

The 1993 Mustang Cobra spent decades off the road

There are few things more satisfying than seeing an old classic car getting a spruce up – like this Nissan 240SX that was given a clean for the first time in 25 years, or this abandoned Mazda RX-7 that was left looking better than new.

Over in Connecticut in the US, the owner of this 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra knew it was time to call in the experts when he saw the state of the vintage vehicle.

The original owner of the Cobra had tragically passed away and the car ended up with his brother.

The new owner said he thought the Cobra had been parked for around 15 years, but when the guys from AMMO NYC detailers took a look at it, they thought it was probably closer to 25 years.

The vehicle was last registered in 1997 – 28 years ago – leading the detailer to believe that it possibly hadn’t been on the road in almost three decades.

The Cobra was given a complete makeover

With so long off the road, the Cobra had become home to mice and the inside was filled with droppings – grim, right?

Not only did the Cobra stink, but it was also a biohazard and the guys had to don special suits and masks before they could tackle the dirt and grime.

Thankfully, the guys from AMMO NYC wasted no time ripping out the old interiors so they could undergo a deep cleaning with the power washer.

The Cobra’s carpets were unable to be salvaged and were pulled out and replaced.

The exterior and interior were then given a clean and were carefully disinfected.

The car was finished off with a polish and shine and by the time AMMO NYC was done, the car looked like it had just rolled off the production line.
