Comic book films are everywhere these days, but there are a few DC characters (like Zatanna!) who are yet to get their own movie.

While Marvel has focused on a more family-friendly approach, DC has often taken more risks.

This can be seen with this year’s ‘The Batman’ and ‘Peacemaker’

With so many characters across the DC multiverse, there are those that haven’t yet had their moment in the spotlight.

We think these five DC characters deserve their own film.

1. Green Arrow

The first entry on this list is one of the most beloved DC characters. Oliver Queen A.K.A Green Arrow has already had a lot of screen time. This is thanks to the phenomenal performance by Stephen Amell who portrayed the character on the hit CW series, ‘Arrow’ from 2012 to 2020.

It’s been more than two years since the show ended though.

With four different actors playing Batman over the next year, a reboot of a different character is not too big of a risk.

Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunman could be the perfect option, you can see the likeness with the image above. Set in Seattle, it’s quite easy to picture an original adaption of the world’s best archer.

Marvel’s Hawkeye proved that people are still interested in this brand of hero.

So why should Green Arrow miss out?

2. Katana

Katana is another DC character who has been on film before. She appeared in 2016’s Suicide Squad, played by the talented Karen Fukuhara.

While Karen has since moved on to another superhero property in Amazon Prime’s ‘The Boys’, I’m sure she could be tempted back into this role.

Following 2019’s DC hit ‘Joker’, fans and producers realised the potential of small indie-style films that essentially act as a character study.

Born in Japan and trained in the ways of the Samurai, Tatsu Yamashiro had a wonderful life, a loving husband and two children.

One fateful night, it was all taken away from her when a jealous suitor she once spurned murdered her entire family.

Seeking revenge, she took possession of the mystical Soultaker Sword, a legendary blade that housed the spirits of those who lost their lives to it, including Tatsu’s husband.

With the success of subtitled shows like Netflix’s Narcos, there’s no reason why a film following this story set in Japan and with the cast speaking Japanese couldn’t work. It would be really niche and incredibly satisfying if done correctly.

3. Red Hood

Jason Todd is famous for two reasons. He was the second Robin alongside Batman. The second reason is that he was brutally murdered by the Joker.

So how is he getting a film?

Well in the comics, he’s resurrected of course!

Traumatised by his own violent end, Jason returned to the world unhinged and bent on revenge.

He trained to be a killer and a mercenary.

Jason then took on a new identity and code name—the Red Hood—in order to strike his own brand of fear in Gotham’s criminals.

With the dark and gritty Bat-verse established by Matt Reeves recent film, ‘The Batman’, the time feels ripe for a Red Hood tie-in film.

Jason Todd being murdered at the hands of the Joker could be a significant story to use to develop Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

4. Zatanna

Zatanna Zatara is another DC character who definitely deserves her own solo film.

She’s intelligent, confident, self-assured and able to manipulate reality itself with her vast black magic abilities.

Zatanna balances her time as a skilled stage illusionist with battling the dark arts alongside some of the world’s greatest superheroes. Need I say anymore?

By reciting spells backwards, the mistress of magic can invoke anything her imagination wills in the DC Universe.

Her inventiveness often allows her to find creative solutions to even the trickiest of problems.

Dr Strange eat your heart out.

5. Cyborg

Cyborg was absolutely butchered by the atrocious theatrical cut of Justice League, courtesy of Joss Whedon. We were all left with a bit of bitter taste in our mouths.

So when Zack Snyder’s Justice League was finally released in 2021, we got to see Ray Fisher’s Cyborg in all his intended glory.

He was the heart of that film and it seemed criminal to have cut him out of the theatrical film as much as they did.

So with Cyborg as a fully established character now, he deserves his own solo film where we can deep dive into his character.
