A man with a knack for all things motoring has shared one of the least positive things about owning his Tesla.

He bought a high-mileage Tesla to provide him with ‘cheap motoring’

But now it hasn’t all been plain sailing, and his main criticism is the build quality and the noises it makes.

However, that wasn’t all he had to share about his purchase.

High mileage, but at what price?

The automotive addict – a YouTuber by the name of Ratarossa – bought a Tesla Model S with a seriously high number of miles on the clock.

Of course, this is always a risk you take when you buy a used high-mileage car, so perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised that he’s had a few issues.

But, disaster hit immediately as the battery failed, meaning that the car enthusiast was hit with a whopping £18,000 ($22,300) bill to replace it.

So, after not wanting to pay the hefty sum, he swapped it for another car of the same model – only this one had done 258,000 miles and came complete with a whole heap of issues.

Firstly he gave the car a ‘facelift’ which included new wheels.

The build of this Tesla wasn’t ideal for the YouTuber

But, the main thing he criticized was the quality of the general shell.

You see, he says that the main build of the car wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be.

The car made funny noises, including squeaks, rattles, and knocks, but is still safe.

He even goes as far as to say that a petrol engine wouldn’t make them less loud.

But that wasn’t all that the petrolhead noted.

He also said the air conditioning in the car proves to be an issue – but repairing it is a whole different ball game.

In fact, to fix the issues, you’d need to remove the whole dash – something that would require such a large amount of time, money and skill – when you can just open the windows.

Another issue noted by the car lover was the door handles breaking and popping in and out continuously, and even the wheels failing when they hit uneven ground like potholes or even curbs.

He even replaced parts of the suspension but a knocking noise still sings in his ears.

Other noted issues include a bonnet catch failure which the owner does take part responsibility for-meaning the it opened when he was driving at high speed.

A Tesla S has a top speed of 130 mph and takes 3.1 seconds to go from 0-60mph.

To buy new, it would set you back a whopping $81,630.

But, despite the issues, the car is still loved by the owner, even if a few bits haven’t quite gone according to plan.

This is why you need to be a bit careful when you buy a second-hand car – not just a Tesla – because you need to expect issues, especially when the mileage is high.

Still, there are gems to be found, if you know where to look.
