The Nova SS L89 is an anomaly in the automobile industry, as Chevrolet produced only one model of the car.
This muscle car featured a 396-cubic-inch V8 engine and aluminum head. This engine setup was atypical for that time, which made the car even more extraordinary.
Obviously, it was quite hard to believe that a car like this even existed.
However, the owner of the Chevrolet Nova SS L89 had all the necessary documentation to prove its authenticity.
This also included a warranty booklet from the company and the General Motors Protect-O-Plate – with information specific to the car – and the car was authenticated by the renowned Nova expert Brian Henderson.
The rare Chevrolet car is worth more than other similar models
Back in 2005, Peter Klutt and his team at Legendary Motorcar took on the task of restoring this one-of-a-kind car.
The car’s new owner contacted Peter for help with the task.
It was the first time that the car’s rare status was revealed.
While Chevrolet built around 311 L89s in 1969, no L89 models were known to have been produced in 1970. But that’s what made this car so special.
The car is not just dependent on its rarity, but it’s quite a powerhouse like one would expect from a Chevy muscle car.
Modern for its time, the car has an original V8 engine with four-speed manual transmission.
It’s no wonder that rare classics like these are a magnet for car collectors, even with a staggering value of around $300,000 – well above other models in its lineup.
