This 1951 Ford Coupe is a really cool car, but you would never suspect it cost $1.4 million to build.
Created by Wicked Fabrication, this Coupe has been featured everywhere from SEMA shows to Jay Leno’s Garage.
Its even won awards.
But what is it about this car that won it so much acclaim – and made it so expensive to make?

The 1951 Ford Coupe that cost $1.4 million
Expensive cars are nothing new, but sometimes these high prices can still leave people stunned.
The cars in Dubai’s police force racked up a huge amount, as did the new electric Cadillac Escalade.
And how could we forget the most expensive SUV on the planet, which our very own Alex Hirschi got behind the wheel of?

But this Ford Coupe is something else altogether.
YouTube Autotopia LA described it as the ‘most perfect custom car’, and we can see why.
Craig Wick and his team at Wicked Fabrication took the 1951 Coupe and turned it into a masterpiece for owner Bruce Leven.
Autopia LA gushed further: “I saw this car at SEMA 2016 and kept going back to look at it over and over.
“The attention to detail is second to none. I put this in my Top 3 all time favorite custom list.”

This isn’t a carbon copy of a normal 1951 Ford Coupes, as a new aluminum hood has been added.
The roof has also been smoothed out.
We have to say the new hood is an improvement over the bubble look of the original.
It’s understandable why this car has featured everywhere from Jay Leno’s Garage to SEMA 2016 and the pages of numerous car magazines.
In their video, Autotopia LA’s host Sean spoke to the car’s current owner Desi Dossantos.
A closer look at this work of art on wheels
Desi had seen the car at SEMA 2016, and managed upon it by chance.
He was looking for a son for his son when he saw it on the website of a dealership 20 minutes from his house.
It was listed under the cars that the dealership had previously sold, but trying to negotiate a deal with the car’s then owner proved tricky.

Fortunately, Desi eventually struck gold and the Coupe was his.
Talking about the inspiration that went into making this custom, Desi said: “[The original] was a businessman’s sedan.
“[The new one] looks like you could have taken it over to race in Europe in the 50s.”
As Sean put it, the guys making this car took a ‘purist’ approach in making over the car, as they still made use of extras that were correct to the car’s time period.
On top of looking magnificent, it drives like a dream.
As the two men went for a ride on the highway, Sean could barely contain his delight.

He admitted: “I could just drive it all day!
“I have a lot of good days in my life. This is one of those where I go ‘This is a fantastic day’.”
