These guys from Chicago brought a 1973 GMC motorhome back to life, and it was like someone renovating an old apartment into a modern luxury home.
We’re not sure whether to call this a restoration or a renovation, but this house on wheels could never have looked better.
They got it from Facebook Marketplace and spent 50 tiring days to get it ready for a road trip to Florida.
While it seemed like quite an impossible task at first, they came through in the end — and how.

Renovating a 1973 GMC motorhome
The team from the RollingWithWalter YouTube channel got this classic GMC motorhome recently, and made a video about its ‘renovation.’
The RV was in pretty bad shape when they got it — especially on the inside.
Although it looked way above decent from the outside, they decided to rework the entire interior.
To start it off, they removed everything from the existing floorboard to the countertops to fit in a proper wooden floor.
That alone took quite a while, but the new wooden flooring made it look drastically improved.
Of course, it wasn’t anywhere near as luxurious as this multi-million dollar RV.
Or even this Brabus Big Boy 1200 motorhome, for that matter.
That, however, wasn’t its intention — because an RV like this needs to be comfortable and fun.
Anyway, the guys further installed new custom countertops, made adjustments for a new refrigerator and a full-sized bed, and then got to the hard part.
It’s like remodeling a house with an engine
You see, this GMC motorhome was old, and its engine was riddled with unexplainable problems.
They fixed and replaced some parts, including the starter, the starter valve, and also the spark plugs.
The actual problem lay in the carburetor, which had to be rebuilt entirely.
When that was sorted, the GMC motorhome was alive again, and it looked absolutely incredible.
After a handful of ‘finishing touches,’ including the wall panels, paint, and accessories, the RV was ready for a road trip.
All in all, if watching car restorations is your thing, you might love this renovation.
It seemed as if a landlord was getting an apartment ready for a new tenant.
Old GMC motorhomes were quite iconic, and not many are around these days.
They aren’t as rare as this GM Futurliner, but you get the point.
After all, who wouldn’t want to live in a retro RV?
