While plenty of cars are set to be auctioned off during Monterey Car Week this week, few will be quite as crazy as this replica of Dragula from the 1960s TV show The Munsters.
With a gold-painted coffin for a body, it features a 4.7-liter V8 engine from a Ford Mustang that churns out a whopping 350hp.
It even has a parachute fitted at the back to help you come to a stop when flying down the road.
The Dragula is about as iconic as it gets.
The original Dragula was built in the show after Herman Munster lost the family’s car – the Munster Koach – in a drag race.
Grandpa Munster had to build something fast enough for him to win their car back in a subsequent race. That’s when he came up with the purpose-built Dragula.
This replica is so true to the original that it’s even been signed by members of the show‘s cast.
It even still has lanterns for headlights as another faithful touch.
Obviously being designed for drag racing, it wears slick tires at the rear to aid with traction.
CHECK THIS OUT!
However, with skinny bicycle tires on the front wheels (seriously!) it’s safe to assume it’s a bit of a death trap.
The differential also sits right between the driver’s legs in the interior to add to the danger.
But at least the parachute at the back helps you come to a dead stop.
This is something Grandpa Munster forgot to fit to the original car in the show.
However, with a tombstone for a license plate, there won’t be much life to your argument if you’re stopped by the cops.
Of course, as it isn’t road registrable, it will be sold on a Bill of Sale as proof of ownership.
How much is this Dragula replica worth?
Funnily enough, this is far from the first Dragula replica Mecum Auctions has sold.
Drive reports one of five made, and ‘the most authentic in existence’, was sold earlier this year for $473,000.
Mecum Auctions’ Monterey 2022 auction will run from August 18-20. This Dragula replica is lot F104.
