ChatGPT founder and CEO Sam Altman has been spotted driving a Koenigsegg Regera around Napa, California.

The tech billionaire, who founded OpenAI, is known for his love of flashy cars.

He’s previously been seen driving a McLaren F1 and has revealed that he ‘likes racing cars’.

He owns at least one other McLaren as well as an ‘old Tesla’, according to an interview he did with the New Yorker.

The Koenigsegg Regera is a record-breaking car

So it may come as little surprise to see him sat behind the wheel of a Koenigsegg Regera.

The rare Swedish supercars were a strictly limited run of just 80 cars.

As such, it come with a hefty price tag of $2 million without any optional extras – that can cost more than the price of a supercar

If you’re feeling flush, you can opt for the ‘Ghost Package’, which apparently makes the car more aerodynamically efficient, or the ‘Environmental Power Upgrade’.

The stunning Regera is powered by the unique ‘Koenigsegg Direct Drive’ system.

This system combines a 5.0-liter V8 engine, fed by 3D-printed turbochargers, and three electric motors.

The result is a staggering 1,500 horsepower – which makes it the most powerful hybrid supercar ever, even more than the McLaren P1 GTR.

And that’s not the only record the Regera holds as it is also able to go from 0 to 400-0 km/h in just 31.49 seconds.

Sam Altman was spotted behind the wheel

Altman was spotted in the high-end motor by car enthusiast Joseph Velyan, who runs the @norcal.garage TikTok page, back in April.

Speaking to Business Insider, Velyan said the incredible car immediately caught his eye, but it wasn’t until much later that he realized who was sitting in the driving seat.

Altman is thought to be worth around $2 billion, but in an incredible display of generosity, he and his husband Oliver Mulherin have signed the Giving Pledge, vowing to give most of it away to good causes.

The Giving Pledge was started by fellow billionaires Warren Buffett and Bill Gates in 2010 and encourages the world’s richest people to donate most of their wealth.

Altman and Mulherin signed up back in May, with the pair saying they ‘would not be making this pledge if it weren’t for the hard work, brilliance, generosity, and dedication to improve the world of many people’.
