This man uncovered his grandmother’s Camaro 30 years after it had been abandoned.

YouTuber Dirt Sweat & Gears shared the video online, in which the 1976 model was brought back.

Setting up the video, Devin Marra said the Camaro Rally Sport was ‘very special’ thanks to the family connection.

He then proceeded to tell the story of how he got back the car after it had been left unused for 30 years.

A family reunion of sorts

To get back the Camaro, Devin had to do some car work for a man called Craig in exchange for the car.

“Now I am the proud owner of this very broken but very special car,” Devin told his viewers.

At the time of its release, the Camaro was the crème de la crème – with air conditioning, a 350 engine and a special paint job.

The paint job in question is mostly white with some tinges of orange and brown, giving it a very 70s feel.

Tonally, it’s the complete opposite of the 2026 Camaro concept which is very modern looking.

Originally the car had side pipes – something Devin remembers vividly as he’d burn his legs on them in hot weather – but there are no longer on the vehicle.

Given the personal history attached to the Camaro, he has a lot to say about it.

“I was very very young when my grandma got rid of it, but my grandma would always tell me stories about this car,” Devin explained.

“She loved this thing. And she was very sad that it disappeared.

“We had no idea where it was. She gave it to my dad, my dad sold it to Craig, and it kinda just fell off the radar from there.”

Devin’s grandmother passed away in 2021, with his dad passing the following year.

This prompted Craig to reach out and take Devin to see the Camaro.

What immediately identified the car as being his grandmother’s?

The ‘I love Pavarotti’ bumper sticker plastered on the back was mostly likely intended as a nod to the Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.

Incidentally, Pavarotti himself was a big car lover, having been the owner of a Ferrari F40 which would later belong to Sebastian Vettel.

How much work does this Camaro need?

Sentimental memories aside, how is the car holding up?

The interior is looking a little beaten up, with the seats showing a lot of wear and tear due to fraying material.

It’s not surprising that it’s ended up in this state, considering it’s been sat with its window down since the early 1990s.

The doors are filled with leaves, a spark plug and a ton of extra junk.

All of the exterior is worse for wear, with the dashboard cracked, the carpet covered in filth and the steering wheel looking melted.

On the whole, fixing this car will be a labor of love.
