This Kansas man bought a super rare Frank Sinatra edition Chrysler Imperial only to discover it was a total dud.

It was released in 1982 and was the most expensive Chrysler ever made at $23,000.

Adjusted for inflation that’s about $80,000.

It even got a celebrity endorsement from Frank Sinatra but it didn’t turn out so great.

Tyler Hoover who runs the Hoovies Garage YouTube channel, recently bought the Frank Sinatra edition Chrysler Imperial after years of searching.

He bought it at a collector car auction in Kansas City for $6,500, but it soon turned into a nightmare.

According to the seller, the car “runs and drives great,” but that was a total lie.

This isn’t the first time Hoover has bought a car with a sketchy background.

The YouTuber even admits to owning the ‘world’s dumbest’ $2.2 million car collection.

As he would come to learn, the Frank Sinatra edition Chrysler Imperial faced a myriad of issues, including malfunctioning gauges, spooky radio, and a troublesome uphill bucking problem.

Filled with issues

“The tech inside this Imperial was cutting edge for its day 40 years ago but we’ve come a long long way since then,” Hoover said.

Despite the car’s prestigious history and celebrity endorsement, the vehicle quickly turned into a nightmare.

The vehicle’s flaws became glaringly apparent as he drove it back to his home.

Thankfully, Hoover is not one to shy away from costly repairs seeing as he also spent a lot of money restoring his third-gen Dodge Viper.

Once they inspected the Frank Sinatra edition Chrysler Imperial a lot of unexpected issues also came to light.

They discovered electrical issues and signs of poor repairs by previous owners.

There were also issues with the car’s exhaust system and mechanical components, including leaks and rust.

Even the carburetor and the fuel system were compromised.

The car has had multiple parts replaced but still suffers from ongoing issues, which shows the complexity of fixing such a rare and old car.
