What if we told you one man single-handedly built a massive 100-foot yacht in his backyard made out of industrial-grade aluminum?

Well, that’s exactly what happened, and it’s a beautiful project.

What’s more, it took him five years to complete it and he did it without knowing anything about building a yacht.

If that isn’t dedication, then we don’t know what is.

Man built 100ft yacht in his backyard

Meet Clyde, a man hailing from the United States who had an idea — to build a massive yacht.

Building a sea vessel is no joke, so he documented the entire process in a video and posted it on YouTube.

This reminds us of this couple who built not one but two yachts in their backyard over 10 years.

However, Clyde didn’t know how to build a yacht and practically had no help.

All he had was a concept, from which he made accurate drawings using methods he learned during a semester in college.

Moreover, the video showed a step-by-step journey of his designs that came off the books in five years.

Construction of large vessels like this 249-foot luxury yacht also took a similar time to complete, so he clearly stayed on it.

He began with a scaled version of the boat’s frame and kept building upon it.

It’s not that he didn’t know what he was doing — but getting everything perfect on the first try can be challenging.

That’s exactly why this project took five years.

After an endless number of trial and error situations, the humongous boat was coming along.

It involved him using aluminum to build what looked like the structure.

This part had to be perfect because the hull fittings, engines, and starboard alignment depended upon it.

However, Clyde never faltered and continued creating one of the most remarkable boats we have ever seen.

Getting to completion

After half a decade, the large boat was ready and it looked like it came right out of a manufacturer’s factory.

As great as it looked, there was one problem — transporting it to the ocean.

You see, his home was in the middle of a desert and the ocean was around 85 miles away.

The only solution was to cut the 100ft yacht into seven pieces and re-assemble it later.

This certainly sounds tedious, but he did it.

After the homemade ‘Kaleidoscope’ yacht reached the ocean, it was ready for its first-ever test and trip.

He took the yacht out for a spin to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Now that it worked, nothing was left but to sit back and relax.

It’s always mesmerizing to see someone put significant efforts into passion projects like these.

As for us, we can only be amazed while the man enjoys his yacht.
