This man unboxed a $261 electric bike from China and its size certainly took him by surprise.

Mikey, the host of EbikeSchool’s YouTube channel, was eager to get his hands on a Xiaomi e-bike that was only available in China.

After sending money to a friend living there, he had it delivered his way.

When it came time to take it out of the box, its stature couldn’t be overlooked.

What size was this $261 electric bike from China when it came out of the box?

Like their four-wheeled counterparts, otherwise known as cars, motorbikes can often be surprising when shipped from overseas.

One Pennsylvania man found this out when he ordered a 40ft shipping container of Japanese motorcycles banned in the US.

On the domestic front, another man was hit with a nasty surprise when he snatched up 14 motorcycles at an auction.

It’s very much a case of ‘Expect the unexpected’ and that certainly applied in Mikey’s case.

Let’s just say that when he got the Xiaomi out of the box, it was on the smaller side.

As in, it looked as if a kid would be better suited to ride it.

“That’s a little bike. I knew it’d be little, but this is even…littler than I expected,” he said.

Fitting the seat in place proved to be a Herculean task, as it appeared to have gotten bent in shipping.

The brakes were no treat to set up correctly either.

Initially it seemed that the charger had been forgotten, as Mikey turned the box upside down in search of it.

But there was no need to fret, as this electric ride came with a built-in charger.

How did this tiny two-wheeler ride?

After a few hours of charging, it was time to take it for a test ride.

Admittedly, the sight of a grown man riding such a miniscule cycle was amusing – but Mikey saw the humor in the situation too.

“This thing is a hoot, look at how tiny it is.

“It’s hilarious to ride around, with these 12 inch wheels.

“It can reach a ‘blistering’ top speed of 20km per hour, or about 12 miles per hour,” he joked

“There’s nothing fancy to write home about, obviously,” he went in.

But despite that, it did seem to be in good working order.

On one charge, Mikey found he was getting a range of between 12 to 14 miles.

However, he drew the line at giving a recommendation to anyone looking to use it on their daily commute.

“It’s not going to be great for higher speed roads or longer distances,” he cautioned.

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have it’s uses, though.

“For someone who wants a small e-bike for hops around the city, this thing is kind of perfect,” Mikey concluded.

So there you have it.
