In this video, we explain some of the most extreme police stopping techniques used during car chases.
Car chases are potentially life-threatening, so the police need to use all of the tools in their arsenal to get criminals to stop fleeing and bring them to justice.
The techniques include using technology like spike strips, X-nets, a grappler that seems like something straight out of a James Bond movie, barriers, bollards, and a radio jammer that brings vehicles to a stop without even touching them.
However, the officers also need to use their own skills, too.
That includes stopping techniques using vehicles to get the offender off the road, whatever it takes to end the chase and drastically lower the risk to the public.
After all, when a vehicle is trying to escape the from the cops at speed, everyone is in danger – the police officers, members of the public, and the criminals themselves.
