Sleeper builds, especially when family minivans are involved, can be exciting — but this ‘Plaidessey’ Honda Odyssey with a Tesla Model S Plaid engine just about trumps everything else.

On the outside, it doesn’t look like much, but it certainly is speedy.

Its creator worked on this project for a long time, and it turned out as he wanted.

If this build doesn’t seem lucrative, what if we told you the minivan can perform donuts better than most cars?

Honda Odyssey meets Tesla engine, becomes the Plaidessey

A 2001 Honda Odyssey is certainly practical for most families, but we’ll be honest: It doesn’t appeal to car enthusiasts that much.

Although the Tesla Model S Plaid is yet another great ride for most use cases, its engine sounds like the perfect thing to upgrade an Odyssey.

It only seems good in theory because you would essentially have to botch the Tesla to get its hardware out.

However, someone was adventurous enough to pull this Model S transformation off and ended up with the Plaidessey.

Kyle Wade from the YouTube channel BoostedBoiz documented the entire build in a video on their channel.

It showed how he managed to do it — and what the Plaidessey was capable of.

It’s safe to say that this mutation was well worth it.

Well, if you like wholly impractical yet fun builds anyway.

We call it impractical because we had never seen a 1,000-horsepower Honda Odyssey before.

That’s right, over a thousand horsepower in an old van.

It reminds us of this supercharged Ford Coyote van, which obviously didn’t have a solid electric drivetrain.

Wade also took the Tesla minivan to the track and raced against a Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The Porsche undeniably won, but the sleeper minivan put up a respectable fight.

All in all, this build was solely for the enthusiasts, and Wade is apparently working on a second generation of the Plaidessey.

When he completes the project, the next iteration might just beat the Porsche.
