Polestar has just launched its five-passenger SUV with an impressive 517 horsepower and it might just give Tesla a run for its money.

The Swedish EV maker describes the new model as a ‘performance SUV’, and we can see why.

The fully-electric Polestar 3 comes loaded with technology, power, and luxury, and will be priced at USD $84,000.

Tech

The Polestar 3 has simple and uncluttered technology.

The SUV has a 14.5 inch center display touchscreen, a nine-inch driver display, head-up display, and touch-sensitive controls integrated into the steering wheel.

Drivers will also be able to enter their individual settings and the car will recognize who is walking towards it and adjust the settings accordingly.

This includes the seat position, mirror settings, steering wheel, and one-pedal drive.

It will even cue up their favorite apps and playlists.

The Polestar 3 also has Google Assistant to control the music and climate settings so you can drive without taking your hands off the wheel.

And where the grille on a combustion car would go, Polestar has its SmartZone.

It’s a panel that is packed with driver assist systems, safety sensors, and camera.

Polestar 3 exterior

The first thing you will notice is the sleek exterior design of the SUV, defined by sculpted surfaces, discreet details, and optimized aerodynamics.

Polestar has lowered and extended the roofline, giving it a distinctive, sophisticated silhouette.

And it has a huge panoramic roof, adding to the spacious feel inside the cabin.

The Swedish EV maker, which is a joint venture between Volvo Cars and Geely, has also optimized airflow with front and rear aero wings.

The SUV also has what Polestar calls megapixel HD LED headlights which are designed to constantly adapt to their surroundings.

Using cameras, the smart lights will be able to identify oncoming cars and focus the beam on areas in between.

The SUV also comes with 22-inch forged multi-spoke wheels.

Polestar 3 interior

The interior screams Scandinavian minimalism.

Not only is it sleek and futuristic to match the exterior, but Polestar has also used wools and Nappa leather produced according to strict animal welfare standards.

The front seats both have memory function which means they can remember the preferred seating position for each driver.

They will also move backwards when you open the door to allow you to get in and out with ease.

Polestar has also given its brand new SUV ambient lighting and 3D surround sound.

Power

The Polestar 3 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds.

And it will have a range of up to 610km and a charging time of 30 minutes.

The Polestar 3 is a step up in size, tech and performance from its last model, the $48,000 Polestar 2 crossover.

Polestar will start production on the SUV next year in China and eliveries are expected to roll out in late 2023.
