A super rare 1962 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is for sale on eBay, although it is currently languishing in the snow of Canada unlike the pristine example in the video above.

The convertible was built in America, but with the Canadian market in mind.

Now, there is some hope that this rare beast might return to its native United States.

At the time of writing, the Impala was listed for $19,000, but it will clearly need some work to get back on the road.

Extra details make this 1962 Impala Convertible even rarer

A closer look at the car reveals it to be rarer than its initial model type suggests.

The car is one of just 2,343 built for the Canadian market with a V8 engine under the hood.

When it left the General Motors factory, the Chevy would have been painted in Corona Cream, with the code 925.

However, images on eBay show it in several different colors.

The hood and front section are now in what looks like a deep blue.

Whoever takes on this Impala will have a serious restoration job on their hands.

Sadly for the Impala, it’s not just the paint that needs attention.

There are some severe signs of rust across the Chevrolet that will need attention.

The 1962 convertible requires a complete restoration

Looking at the images, the 1962 Impala’s floors look okay.

Major rust has missed this area, while the trunk looks solid despite its years outside.

However, all of these sections still require rust repairs, as it has claimed certain sections of the Impala.

Rust is a real enemy for any classic car, and it can be more or less severe depending on its storage location and climate.

It’s highly likely this Impala has stood for some years.

This means it potentially has more serious rust and metal issues lurking beneath the surface.

The biggest issue is that the 283CI V8 under the hood no longer runs.

Mechanical restoration is therefore another aspect for any potential buyer to consider.

The good news is that the car sells with plenty of documentation.

In theory, this should allow the new owner to follow a paper trail of repairs and services.

Let’s hope that this rare and wonderful machine can find a way back home and back to its former glory.
