Emirati Royal and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently acquired a special version of the Land Rover Defender Octa similar to the one in the above video.
The Land Rover Defender Octa displays the simple license plate ‘1’, which is the Ruler of Dubai’s personal plate and one that is always highly sought after at auctions around the world.
This isn’t the first vehicle to wear the plate in Dubai.
However, anyone wishing to splash out on it will have to move country, as it will never be sold at auction in Dubai.

The number one plate is reserved for Dubai’s Royal Family
The license plate on the car is one of the most valuable in the world and has never been sold at auction.
This is because it is reserved for Dubai’s royal family, which means it will never appear at an auction in the country.
However, the sale of other plates in Dubai gives us an idea of the value of ‘Dubai 1’.
In April 2023, the license plate ‘Dubai P7’ sold for an astronomical $15 million, setting a Dubai record at the time.
The ‘1’ plate on the Defender is even more desirable.
Therefore it is highly likely it would fetch more money should the Royal Family ever decide to part with it.
Other cars have worn the Dubai 1 plate on the Land Rover
The new Defender isn’t the first car to host the exclusive plate.
Previously, the plate was held by a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, again a car owned by the Dubai Royal Family.
As a car lover, it’s no surprise that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has opted for the Octa version of the Land Rover Defender.
The Octa is the most powerful version of the British SUV.
Under the hood, it has a massive 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

That V8 produces 626HP and 555lb-ft of torque, but that power is not cheap.
The retail price in the USA is currently $152,000, rising to over $153,000 once the delivery charge is factored in.
The director and SVO of Jaguar-Land Rover, Jamal Hameedi, also confirmed on LinkedIn that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Octa is the first person to take global delivery of the high-performance SUV.
