Richard Branson, the Virgin mogul, is, without doubt, one of the most famous people in the world.
Branson is the brains – and hair – behind a billion-dollar, all-encompassing empire.
Now, you can live in a place owned by Branson himself.
And it’s the origin of one of his most famous ventures.

Richard Branson and the houseboat that built Virgin Records
Duende is a houseboat.
It’s moored on the Blomfield Road, which is on Regent’s Canal in London, also known as Little Venice.
But it also happens to be the previous home of Richard Branson, as well as where he his start in business.
Branson first bought the houseboat in the 1970s after marrying Kristen Tomassi, his first wife.
He eventually made the houseboat his home, and it was there that his company really took off – pun intended.
In a Virgin blog post last year, Branson explained the significance of the boat to himself, as well as his family.

“It was on this houseboat that my cousin Simon Draper and I decided to start a record company – Virgin Records – along with my childhood friend Nik Powell.
“It was also the place we signed Mike Oldfield as our very first artist,” he wrote.
Branson himself further explains how important his houseboat home is to him:
“It was also where I learnt [my wife] Joan was pregnant with Holly, which changed our lives forever.
The kids grew up on the houseboat, playing in the corner as we held meetings with anyone from Mick Jagger to serious solicitors.
Some of my happiest family moments, and our greatest business deals, were signed on Duende.”
Richard Branson’s historic houseboat available to rent
Now, Branson’s historic houseboat is available to rent.
Although the Virgin magnate still owns the boat, it has been listed with London-based realtor Michael Graham.
The houseboat comes either furnished or unfurnished, but either way, a surreal amount of effort has been put into it.
Duende has two bedrooms, one reception room, one bathroom and over 1,000-square feet of space.

Branson’s luxe boat is available to rent for $6,500 per month.
As expensive as this sounds, it actually isn’t – the average rent in the area, according to Foxtons Realtors, is roughly $500 per month more.
So if you’ve ever fancied living the more mobile lifestyle in London, then this could be the perfect place for you.
