“I feel the need, the need for speed,” said Tom Cruise in the 1986 film Top Gun.
Adrenaline has been a component of many of the movie star’s roles since his first Hollywood hit and he famously does his own stunts.

But what does he drive when the cameras aren’t rolling?
2010 Ford Mustang Saleen S281
One of Tom Cruise’s prized possessions is his 2010 Ford Mustang Saleen S281.
The ‘Stang’s 4.6-liter V8 has been modified to produce 330 hp, enabling it to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 4 seconds.
Cruise has been known to take his pride and joy to events, like the time he rocked up to the premiere of Mission: Impossible III in the bright orange muscle car.
1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1
The 1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1 takes pride of place in Cruise’s garage – and it’s precisely what you’d expect a real-life Maverick to drive.
His first-generation solid-axle ‘Vette looks extra classy in two-tone glacier blue and white with silvery blue leather.
Under the hood is a 6.2-liter LS3 crate engine from Chevrolet performance pumping out a whopping 430 hp.
What’s more, the vintage model also houses a limited-slip differential and a 3.50:1 gear.
1983 BMW 3-Series E30
Tom Cruise has been sliding around BMW’s i8, M3 and M5 in recent Mission: Impossibles, but his relationship with the brand goes back to 1983.
That’s when he bought a new 3-Series in the wake of supporting roles in Taps and The Outsiders.
Both films were packed with fresh talent and Cruise made such an impression that stardom was on the horizon.
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Another of Cruise’s earliest automotive acquisitions was this quintessential V8 muscle car, which featured in the Jack Reacher movie.
The SS stood for Super Sport and Cruise’s SS396 packed 350 bhp and a power-bulge in the hood.
The Chevelle was a popular body style in Nascar racing in the 1970s, but by the late 1980s and eary 1990s, it had been replaced by the Chevrolet Lumina.
2005 Bugatti Veyron
In the mid-noughties, Tom Cruise dropped a hefty $2 million on a Bugatti Veyron.
The euphoria of driving a 1,000 hp hypercar didn’t last long, though, as he got blacklisted by the luxury manufacturer soon after.
Apparently, an incident occured when he took the “beast of the road” for a ride to his Mission: Impossible III premiere.
According to The Sun, he had no idea how to open the door, and it took him several tries before he managed to open the handle to let his now ex-wife Katie Holmes out of the passenger seat.
Of course, the whole thing was captured by dozens of paparazzi, and it became a major embarrassment for Bugatti.
The incident allegedly led to Cruise being added to the brand’s blacklist, preventing him from purchasing another Bugatti in the future.
