A stock Volkswagen ID 7 Pro S managed to travel almost 600 miles (965km) on a single charge – 150 miles (241km) further than its estimated range.
The VW EV was put through its paces on a circuit in Nardò, southern Italy.
The aim of the test was to ‘determine the maximum efficiency of the Volkswagen ID 7 Pro S’.
And it’s safe to say it passed with flying colors.

The Volkswagen ID 7 Pro S has banished range anxiety
A recent study from the SLAC-Stanford Battery Center suggested that EV batteries could perform much better and last longer than previously thought due to how they have been tested in the past.
And it seems as though the Volkswagen ID 7 Pro S is happy to back this up.
During a test at the Low Speed Ring in Nardò, it managed a seriously impressive 585-mile range (941km) from a single 86 kWh battery charge.
The EV, which was introduced last year, was completely stock and had no modifications done prior to the test.
The test was done in December, with average temperatures of between five to 15 degrees Celsius.
And seemingly proving that range anxiety is nothing to worry about, the EV managed to beat its European WLTP range estimate by 144 miles (231km) – a truly incredible achievement for the Volkswagen ID 7 Pro S.
The EV was driven at an average speed of 18mph during the test
A photo published by Volkswagen appears to show the impressive feat was carried out across one long – 33 hours and 15 minutes – journey.
And during that time, the car was driven at an average speed of just 18mph (29 km/h), which may seem low, but the marque pointed out it was the ‘typical rush hour speed in large cities’.
The carmaker also noted that ‘the ID.7 Pro S can also achieve very long ranges in everyday use’.
“We are seeing a positive trend in incoming orders in Europe and are currently selling more ID.7 models than Passat,” said Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Martin Sander.
“This shows that the ID.7 is a meaningful all-electric addition to the brand’s product portfolio and, in addition to our successful Passat, is also suitable for long-distance drivers and as a company car.”
