A Canadian YouTuber bought the world’s cheapest Mercedes G-Wagen, the exact one he posted that went viral on social media.

YouTuber TJ Lamb, known as Magnacars, first spotted the G-Wagen parked up a couple of years ago before he finally made an offer for it.

The 1990s, G-Wagen was bought thanks to the ad revenue from his videos, and the video shows him taking it in for an inspection at Mercedes.

That inspection will reveal whether this car was a good deal or whether he paid more than he should have.

It took years for TJ to buy the G-Wagen

TJ explains that for two years, every Sunday on his way to church, he would spot the car sitting outside a gas station.

It only ever moved around the gas station’s parking lot. It turned out to be a 1994 German-import G-Wagen with AMG wheels and a lift kit.

TJ posted a video of the car on social media, which quickly received 12 million views.

While he had to turn down an initial offer of $30,000 to buy the car, he did at least get to test drive the G-Wagen.

After another couple of years, TJ was able to buy the car for $8,000.

Finally, he got his hands on his new project car.

Another part of his reasoning for buying it was to pair it up with his Mercedes 190 Evo 2 replica.

The Mercedes has a reliable engine under the hood

Under the hood is a very reliable OM603 diesel engine, which runs well, but the G-Wagen has some issues.

While the interior is in reasonable condition, there are signs of rust on the exterior.

Clearly, the five years the SUV has been parked outside have taken their toll on it.

A quick exterior clean showed that some water has gotten into the car.

It did however make the outside look a little better.

TJ also filled up the G-Wagen, which cost $125 CAD, or $86 USD, to fill up its tank with diesel.

TJ’s roommate, who owns an Acura Integra, was quite surprised when he got home to see his friend’s new car.

The moment of truth comes after TJ takes it to his local Mercedes dealership to see if he got a good deal or made a mistake.

While the dealer points out a few issues, he concludes that TJ has, for the most part, gotten an excellent deal on this rare G-Wagen.
