The list of the world’s wealthiest people as of 1 January, 2024 has been unveiled by Forbes – and Elon Musk is back on top of the richest men rankings.

Due to financial losses, Elon Musk, was overtaken in the world’s richest man list by Bernard Arnault in 2023.

But you can’t keep Elon Musk in second place and he’s regained the top spot.

The combined wealth of the 10 richest men totals almost $1.47 trillion.

According to data from Forbes, this total is $350 billion higher than the combined net worth of 2023.

That came to $1.12 trillion.

And some familiar names including Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg are up there.

CEO of X, Tesla and SpaceX and several other profitable companies, Elon Musk has reclaimed his title at the top of the richest men list.

As of the beginning of 2024, Elon Musk’s net worth stands at a staggering $250.4 billion.

Despite some record-breaking losses in his wealth in 2023, that’s still a significant increase from $136.9 billion in 2023.

French billionaire, Bernard Arnault, has taken 2024’s second place.

Forbes reports his current net worth at $203.2 billion up from $183 billion in 2023.

A name that’s absent from this year’s top ten is Indian billionaire, Gautam Adani, who ranked last year.

Previously holding the position as the richest man in Asia, he started 2023 in a respectable third place with $126.2 billion.

However, corruption allegations in India have caused a significant dent in his wealth over the past 12 months.

India’s supreme court recently ruled that the investigation into Adani should be completed within a three-month window, which gave his stock a boost.

He’s entering the new year in sixteenth place with his net worth said to be $69.7 billion.

The Forbes list of the top 10 richest men in the world at the start of 2024:

  1. Elon Musk – $250.4 billion
  2. Bernard Arnault & family – $203.2 billion
  3. Jeff Bezos – $174.4 billion

All Supercar Blondie contributors undergo editorial review and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and authority in automotive journalism. After gaining her BA Hons in French and English at the University of Nottingham, Amelia embarked on a vocational diploma from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). This led to numerous opportunities, from interning at Vogue to being on the small team that launched Women’s Health magazine in the UK, which was named the PPA Consumer magazine of the year for three years running. As Health, Beauty and Fitness editor, Amelia personally received a Johnson & Johnson Award and was shortlisted for both PPA and BSME titles. Since then, Amelia has created content for numerous titles and brands, including the Telegraph, 111 Skin, Waitrose, Red magazine, Stylist, and Elle, as well as being Head of Content at Vitality and Editor in Chief at INLondon magazine. “My superpower is translating technical jargon about the mechanical workings of a supercar into a relatable story you’ll want to share with your friends after you’ve read it.” After joining the SB Media family as a senior journalist in September of 2023, Amelia’s role has evolved to see her heading up the SEO output of the editorial team. From researching the most ‘Google-able’ key terms to producing evergreen content - it’s been a time of hard work, growth, and success for the editorial team and the Supercar Blondie website. “I like to think of myself as a ‘method journalist’. In other words: I live and breathe whatever I am writing about. When writing about fitness, I trained as a personal trainer, and as a beauty editor, I completed an ‘expert’ in scent diploma with the Fragrance Foundation. “During my tenure at Supercar Blondie, however, I did something I never thought possible: I passed my driving test at the age of 36. One day I’d love to train as a mechanic to better understand what happens under the hood, too. “My sweet spot is providing readers with a ‘takeaway’ (read: something new they didn’t know before) after reading every one of my stories. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the automotive world, I know the experts and bodies in the field to rely on to provide our readers with an informative and thought-provoking story every time they visit the site.”
