Elon Musk ended 2023 a hell of a lot richer than he did in 2022

Elon Musk ended 2023 as the world’s richest person.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO secured the top spot on the 2023 billionaires list, making him the richest man in the world.

And he even finished the year $100 billion richer than he did he did in 2022.

In 2019, Elon Musk apparently earned around 40,000 times the average income of a regular worker.

Fast forward, and his net worth stands at an impressive $232 billion.

It’s little wonder the seven most expensive things Elon Musk owns are mind-blowing.

Musk rubs shoulders with other tech billionaires who’ve seen their wealth in tech stocks grow by 48 percent – totalling $658 billion – due to the intensive rise of AI.

But where did Musk’s extra $100 billion come from?

As to be expected, the vast majority of his profits came from the thriving success of Tesla and SpaceX.

At the close of last Thursday’s trading, Musk added $95.4 billion to his wealth.

That’s a much better outcome than Musk experienced in 2022, when his companies experienced losses amounting to $138 billion, according to Bloomberg.

Musk’s 13 percent stake in Tesla, valued at $107 billion in July 2023, played a large role in contributing to his financial standing.

Back in 2022, Musk faced a legal battle with Twitter involving its acquisition.

Musk reportedly sold nearly 8 million Tesla shares – worth around $7 billion – in response to the social media platform suing him in response to agreement terms.

And because of that, the SpaceX CEO dipped in the billionaire rankings, dropping down to second place behind French luxury tycoon, Bernard Arnault.

But Musk regained the top spot in June 2023, as the demand for luxury goods decreased the shares of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE.

2023 also saw Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ wealth increase by $70 billion, while Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s fortune grew by more than $80 billion.
