Elon Musk tests the Cybertruck's mind-blowing acceleration ahead of delivery event

Elon Musk is testing the Cybertruck again, but this time he’s not worried about range, off-roading abilities or anything like that.

This time it’s all about speed and power.

The CEO was filmed testing the truck’s acceleration near Giga Texas, surrounded by journalists, some of Tesla’s executives and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

And whatever else you might want to say about the Cybertruck, you can’t call it slow.

Keen-eyed viewers also spotted yet another change in the Cybertruck’s appearance.

The latest versions of the truck are now wearing new ‘shoes’.

The Cybertruck’s iconic blacked-out ‘dish’ wheels have now been replaced by more conventional wheels that look like they belong to a rally car from the 1990s.

We still don’t have a date yet but it feels like an official announcement is just around the corner.

Even though Tesla hasn’t announced a confirmed date yet, the company has already set up the Cybertruck Delivery Event invitation system in its Referral Program.

In spite of these constant delays, the hype hasn’t died down at all.

Tesla has already received two million pre-orders for the Cybertruck.

The vast majority of buyers went for the dual-motor and tri-motor versions, while the single-motor and quad-motor variants only account for roughly one tenth of total sales.

It’s worth noting that anybody can order the Cybertruck with a fully refundable $100 deposit.

The only catch is the Cybertruck is currently only available in North America, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be available in China or Europe in the near future.

In the meantime, some people got tired of waiting and actually built their own DIY Cybertruck.

We can’t blame them.
