1961 Flamingo Studebaker Hawk is symbol of love
The incredible story of Pete, his beloved wife Jakie, and the 1961 Flamingo Studebaker Hawk was covered on YouTube by Lou Costible, who was impressed by their touching tale of love.
The story behind this unique car in a shade of flamingo pink began decades ago.
The couple’s bond over cars started when they were dating.
They loved attending car shows together, a tradition that continued even as they planned their future.
Jackie was determined to find a car she loved, and her choice was the flamingo-colored Studebaker Hawk.
The deal was that Jackie could choose the color of her choice, and in return, Pete would restore the car just for her.
Restored in loving memory of Jackie
Jackie even matched the car’s color to the bridesmaid dresses at their wedding, reminiscent of the Japanese couple who paired their wedding attire with their pair of Nissan 300ZXs.
The couple was tight on budget, but together, they saved to fund their wedding and for the car’s restoration.
But life, as uncertain as always, had its own ways, and Jackie passed away before she could even see the restored Flamingo Studebaker Hawk.
Pete completed the restoration and now showcases the car in Jackie’s memory, lovingly referring to it as ‘Jackie’s Car’.
