A man has rescued a 1967 Pontiac GTO that was rotting away in a barn in Mississippi – proving that sometimes stories do get the happy ending that they deserve.
Surprisingly, given the fact it’s been in a barn for who knows how long, the car is in pretty good condition.
Hoping to sell the Pontiac on Craigslist, the lucky finder wrote: “The body is in excellent shape with just a little surface rust on the bottom. There are no dents and I have all the chrome trim.” Nice.
Not only that but the engine isn’t doing too badly either, with the seller noting the ‘motor runs strong and the transmission shifts very smoothly’.

He’s also put in a new gas tank, brake lines, master brake cylinder, alternator, and tires – so the car is all good to go.
And tucked away inside the car there’s an 8-track cassette player, something the seller says is ‘rare’. It’s unclear how many of the 81,722 GTOs Pontiac produced in 1967 came with an 8-track cassette player – but it’s sure to be an interesting selling point for vintage lovers.
If they’ve got any cassettes to play, that is.
The seller has set a price of $22,500 – not a bad sum for a barn find.

While this ‘true barn find’ is an interesting and potentially profitable piece of luck for the seller, it’s nothing compared to what was found in Holland earlier this year.
A Dutch businessman with a passion for high-end cars amassed a collection of 230 vehicles over the years.
And kept his collection hidden away – first in a massive warehouse, then across two warehouses, then three, and finally the collector bought a deconsecrated church to store some of his vehicles.
The mammoth collection was also pretty diverse, alongside your usual luxury vehicles such as Ferraris, Lambos, Alfas, and rare Mercedes models, the collection also includes Alpines, Tatras, and old Lincolns.
It even includes a Facel Vega – a long-forgotten obscure French brand that was only active for about 10 years between the 1950s and 1960s.
I wonder if there’s a 1967 Pontiac GTO complete with 8-track in there?
