Pontiac Firebird Trans Am pulled from woods after 20 years

It’s a sad sight seeing an iconic Pontiac Firebird Trans Am sitting in the woods abandoned.
After nearly 20 years hidden deep beneath the undergrowth, the 1980 car would surely be unsavable.
Not entirely sure of what they were up against, these guys made it their mission to get her running again.

The video posted to the D2K Motors YouTube channel doesn’t reveal much about the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
All we really know is the gold-colored car was last tabbed in 2004, so presumably that’s when it last ran.
And, as you’d expect from a car sitting for so long, it was in a sorry state.
Water is a car’s worst enemy and, upon closer inspection, the foot wells were full of it.
Underneath the hood was full of moisture, too.
To make matters worse, the belly of the car was virtually sitting on the ground.
But despite all this, the car wasn’t as rotten as the guys expected, so they made a start on trying to get her to run again.
So they hooked up a battery and immediately there appeared to be some life, with the headlights lighting up and the engine turning.
The guys then stripped some of the missing engine parts off a spare engine which they fitted to the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
Returning the next day in the pouring rain, the guys threw a new carburetor on the car.
They then fitted a throttle cable and started putting gas into the carb.
Before you knew it, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am sprung to life in a big white cloud of smoke, albeit briefly.
The day ended there for the guys, who returned on day three to put air in the tires and hook up a mechanical fuel pump connected to a gas can.
The muscle car soon fired up and just like that, we got to hear the Firebird purring once again.
After much maneuvering, the guys managed to free the bird from the branches and undergrowth it was trapped in.
They were soon on their way to the shop for a closer inspection to see if she could be put back on the road again.
