Alef’s groundbreaking flying car has just been unveiled in detail for the first time.
The Alef Model A hit headlines in July when it became the first flying car to be granted approval by the U.S. government.
Now, the company is giving us our first look at it, and it’s incredible.

Footage just posted to Instagram shows the Alef Model A as its cover is pulled back at the 2023 Detroit Auto Show.
True to the renders, the car is seen with a mesh-like lattice body.
And at the center of the car, the Model A has a decent-sized domed glass canopy.
The car also looks like it’s glowing blue, but that’s just the result of some powerful lighting, unfortunately.
Alef Aeronautics has already started taking pre-orders for the car too.
It costs just $150 to order, or $1,500 to join the priority queue.
The start-up says it’s already received $250 million worth of pre-orders.
Alef says buyers will also be able to configure the car to their preferences before it’s delivered.
But that’s a while off yet.
About the Alef flying car
It will be fully electric with a range of about 200 miles (321 kilometers) on the road, and 110 miles (177 kilometers) in the air.
It will have a top speed of about 35 mph (56 km/h) and will seat two passengers comfortably.
According to the creators, the car will have vertical take-off andlanding capabilities, meaning it can take off from pretty much anywhere.
Alef Aeronautics expects to deliver its first flying car to a paying customer in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Alef flying car isn’t without competition though.
Just a week after the Model A was granted FAA approval, California start-up Aska announced its A5 flying car was also granted official approval.
