Slow drivers in Arizona could receive a nasty surprise if they find themselves to be a slow driver.
The state are working on a proposed new bill and it’s bad news if you’re not zipping down the highway.
Dubbed the ‘Slow Poke’ bill, it could land you with a large fine if you go too slow in the fast line.
Of course, you’ll still get a speeding ticket, so there’s a balance to be struck.

It’s time to pick up the speed in Arizona or you’ll face a pay out
The left lane could soon turn into a danger zone and drivers may want to shift through the gears to avoid paying out big bucks.
Teresa Martinez is looking to pass the bill which came to her – ironically – whilst driving.
She says that the idea came to her whilst she was commuting into Phoenix, Arizona.
According to ABC 15, she said: “If you want to drive 70 mph on the right, beautiful, wonderful. If you want to drive 70 miles an hour on the left, no bueno.
She continued: “You’ve got five, seven, 10, 15 cars backed up…they’re getting frustrated. Then they pass on the right, speeding… that’s when you get accidents,” Martinez said. “We’re not writing a bill that says drive 85 mph.”
And, it really could leave you with a hefty sum to pay off.
A mighty $500 could be claimed from you if you’re crawling in the fast lane.
But, do not fear as the bill – if it comes into fruition – would not apply to every fast line in the state of Arizona.
Instead, only interstates with two lanes and above would be effected.
The new piece of legislation could mean that Arizona is another state on the long list of areas that have been governed by left lane bills.

But what are interstates and what is their purpose?
In total, Arizona boasts six interstate roads.
They consist of: I-8, I-10, and I-40; I-15,I-17, and I-19.
They contain no stop signs or traffic lights. This means that motorists are therefore permitted to both enter and exit them at specific points- a.k.a interchanges.
The new law has passed a committee so far, and is now on the way to Arizona House.
So, fear not, you have time to practice safely picking up the pace whilst cruising on the interstate.
And remember, practice makes perfect.
But the overall message is to be safer, not faster
