  • The dealer gave her a much better car as a loaner

A BMW owner in Pennsylvania took her BMW 3 Series in for a service and was shocked when she discovered what car she’d be driving as a loaner.

To her surprise, she was given a car that was newer and better equipped than her own.

She talked about it in a TikTok video and the clip went viral.

But people in the comments made warned her this may have been intentional.

The reason why the dealer gave this BMW owner a better car

Ava Brinton – a BMW owner who lives in Pennsylvania – took her 2015 BMW 328i in for a service.

She needed a loaner and the dealer gave her a 2023 BMW 330i.

Not only is this car newer, it’s also a better spec model.

For reference, her 328i puts out 241 horsepower, while the 330i she was given is good enough for 255 horsepower.

She was definitely enjoyed her ‘new’ car but somebody in the comments broke the spell with the inconvenient truth.

“They do this as a sales tactic. I had a new loaner car while my car was getting repaired. Within a week of getting my old car back, I bought a new one,” a commenter wrote.

Several other people wrote different versions of the same comment.

Translated, the dealer gave her a better car in the hope she would end up finding her own car (below) a bit old and potentially replace it.

What’s going on with the BMW 3 Series

The 3 Series is still one of BMW’s best-selling vehicles, and the line-up keeps on growing.

The Touring version of the M3 CS was recently unveiled, around a year after the launch of sedan version, and there’s the new upcoming electric M3.

Even though M cars are expensive and ‘extreme’, they often outsell regular BMW models

Last year, 2024, was the best year on record for BMW M.

BMW sold 206,582 M cars, continuing a 13-year sales-growth trend.

The 3 Series is also one of those cars that can compete with so many different cars when you consider the full line-up.

The MSRP on a bog-standard 3 Series is $46,000+, basically the same as most mid-size sedans, but then you get to the aforementioned M3 CS Touring, and that costs over $150,000.

That’s supercar territory.
