There is nothing like a true American muscle car, and in the 50’s, the new popular past time of drag racing was a great way to show off the speed, power and class of your car.

The Dodge Cobra dominated the 60’s as the fastest muscle car and its spiritual child the Dodge Viper carried the torch well into the 2010’s.

At the end of 2023, Dodge announced that they were discontinuing two of their most popular brands the Challenger and the Charger, leaving a big gap in the muscle car roster.

As a last hurrah, the car manufacturer announced their last Challenger, ‘the quickest, fastest and most powerful muscle car in the world’, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, and – believe us – it lives up to the hype.

Dodge’s last hurrah for the muscle car

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 came out of the factory ready to smash some records.

Unveiled at the The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2023, the Demon 170 answered the question of the fastest muscle car in the world once and for all.

It completely destroys the quarter mile time with a fiery sub-nine-second, being so fast that you’d get a violation from the National Hot Rod Association if you gave it full power for dangerous driving without a safety cage.

It is not only the fastest muscle car, it provides the fastest G-force acceleration of any car ever produced.

The car can reach 60 mph in just 1.6 seconds, an absolutely eye-watering speed unlike anything else seen on the drag strip.

What makes the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 so speedy?

The Dodge Demon has many extensive modifications to create its astounding speed, inspired by the body of the Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody.

Pretty much all the components that power the engine have been upgraded to better ones, with the camshaft the only part being left untouched.

The HEMI has a 3 liter supercharger with a big snout in order to boost pressure, including a 3 inch pulley on top of the Hellcat framework.

All of these components work together to create a real speed demon that is still continuously living up to its name.

Pretty cool of Dodge to end 60 years of muscle car dominance in such a blaze of glory.
