The Airbus A380 is one of the largest commercial aircraft ever built.
When seen from afar, it might not seem particularly impressive.
But up close, its size is truly jaw-dropping.

To give you a good idea of how big the Airbus A380 actually is, an account on X called Aviation posted a photo of the aircraft’s tail along with people standing close to it.
The people standing nearby seem like dwarfs standing next to someone as massive as Shaq O’Neal.
To put its size into perspective, the tail of the A380 measures 24.1 meters in height. Isn’t that impressive?
And despite its huge size, the plane is still capable of performing breathtaking maneuvers.

However, this enormous size isn’t just for show; it serves a critical purpose.
A user on Reddit explained that the tail’s massive size helps to stabilize the plane.
If one of the engines fails, the large tail also helps offset the unbalanced thrust, keeping the plane flying straight and safely.
No wonder this plane is considered legendary and even compared to the likes of Boeing 747.
Now let’s dive into some of the interesting details and specifications of this legendary aircraft.
The Airbus A380 is powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 or Engine Alliance GP7200 engines.
Each of these engines is also capable of producing up to 70,000 pounds of thrust.
This immense power allows the A380 to reach a maximum speed of about 1,020 km/h (634 mph).
Despite its massive size, the aircraft is incredibly efficient and smooth in the sky.
The plane can carry up to about 853 passengers. It’s more than most aircraft out there.
And despite such a huge capacity, the plane does not compromise on luxury and comfort.
The aircraft’s advanced design also contributes to its impressive range of approximately 15,200 kilometers.
This means it can fly non-stop from Dubai to Los Angeles without refueling.
So the next time you see an Airbus A380 flying, just remember; that the plane is not called ‘Superjumbo’ for nothing.
