It hasn’t been too long since Amazon founder Jeff Bezos acquired the brand-new Gulfstream G700 private jet, but he’s already taking trips across the US and enjoying the luxury.
This is his fourth private jet and certainly is an upgrade over the rest of his fleet.
As luxurious and tech-imbued as this aircraft is, there’s one thing that stands out the most.
It’s almost as fast as the speed of sound — that is, Mach 1 — but it’s not all the way there.

Jeff Bezos owns a really fast private jet
The Gulfstream G700 is not your average private aircraft.
While all Gulfstream aircraft have a proven track record, this marks the beginning of a new era.
It’s one of the fairly recent launches from the manufacturer and tops just about most business jets.
You see, it maxes out and soars through the skies at Mach 0.925.
That’s almost the speed of sound — but can you really tell?
It further translates to 710mph, which is enough to get you anywhere in the country.
Just like Jeff Bezos did last weekend when his private jet was spotted in Los Angeles.
If that number doesn’t seem all that impressive to you, it’s actually pretty remarkable for a private aircraft of this size.
Most other (and older) jets have a top speed lower than that, so the Gulfstream G700 gets a point here.
The Gulfstream G700 is simply remarkable
Combined with a real-world range of 7,500 nautical miles, it also makes for a great pick for international travel.
That range and speed helped the Gulfstream G700 break two transatlantic speed records in one day.
Moreover, Gulfstream is on track to roll out the G800, which is basically an upgraded variant with a higher range.
These business jets are not here to joke around, which is why they are attracting buyers.
Jeff Bezos, for instance, heavily favors the company.
He already owned two Gulfstream G650ER models in his private fleet before adding in the G700.
Four private jets might seem like a lot for one man, but it doesn’t matter when you’re a billionaire.
Especially if you’re Bezos.
