American rapper Kendrick Lamar took to the stage at Glastonbury Festival wearing an outrageous ‘crown of thorns’, except the thorns were actually covered with diamonds.

The diamond crown was made by Tiffany & Co. and is worth around $1.3 million.

It’s out there, yes, but it’s far from the craziest thing an artist has ever worn.

So what is it?

The crown was first unveiled during the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2023 runway show and, according to Tiffany, it took around 10 months and 1,300 hours to complete.

The base is made from titanium and it features 8,000+ micro-pavé set diamonds for 137 karats in total.

The diamond crown is incredibly expensive, but this isn’t the first time an artist has shocked the world with their insane jewels.

In fact, some rappers have come out with some drastically ‘out there’ statement pieces.

Dan Sur’s gold and diamond hair

Dan Sur is a 24-year-old Mexican rapper that’s done something no one has ever done before: he had gold and diamond chains surgically implanted in his scalp.

The procedure must’ve been painful – not to mention costly – and you have to wonder: gold is kinda heavy, isn’t that, like, super uncomfortable?

Lil Wayne’s diamond teeth

A lot of rappers wear diamond or gold teeth but those are usually removable grills.

New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne took it one step further by replacing his natural teeth with artificial teeth made from actual diamonds.

When he underwent the procedure back in 2009, the gems in his new teeth were valued at around $150,000 but the average diamond price has just about doubled since then.

Look at this way: that’s one way to beat inflation.

When he had the diamond teeth taken out, the rapper had to have eight root canals and some other dental work done to repair the damage.

Rick Ross’s ‘Mini Me’ chain

Mississippi-born rapper Rick Ross first worn his ‘mini me’ chain in 2010 and back then, it was valued at around $1.5 mln.

The chain is massive and it is it consists of a portrait of himself, made from gold and diamonds, and the portratin is in turn is wearing yet another self-portrait.

In other words, his chain is wearing a chain.
