The Lucid Air Sapphire has once again geared up for another drag race.
DragTimes has been putting the electric sedan to work recently.
It’s taken on one of its competitors, the Tesla Model S Plaid, and sprinted from zero to 60 mph in eye-watering time.
Now it’s gone head-to-head with what some describe as the car’s opposite: the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.

The all-electric Lucid Air was created to compete with the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S.
Last year the automaker announced the Lucid Air Sapphire: the world’s first fully electric luxury super-sports sedan.
The Sapphire is an exhilarating drive, with three motors, four driving modes, carbon-ceramic brakes, sports seats, and more.
It recently snatched the title of quickest acceleration of any vehicle in production.
The combination of luxury and high performance puts its price tag at $250,000.
The all-wheel drive car weighs 5,336 pounds and produces 1,234 horsepower.
Lucid states the deep blue beast can reach 60 mph in 1.89 seconds.
But DragTimes managed it in 1,77 seconds.
While the car is capable of incredible feats, it’s not designed for racing.
It’s got Michelin Pilot Sport street tires and inside there are four regular seats.
That hasn’t stopped it from taking on numerous racers and leaving them in the dust.
DragTimes decided to put the Sapphire up against a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, which was designed with drag racing in mind.
It’s been gutted, with just one seat for the driver inside.
The Demon weighs 4,275 pounds, produces 1,025 horsepower, and is powered by a 6.2l supercharged V8.
Built specifically for quarter-mile dragstrips, the Demon 170 is capable of popping wheelies and will set you back $115,000.
When the race started, it seemed like it would be neck-and-neck.
By the end, there was a clear winner.
Unfortunately for the Demon 170, it lost to the Sapphire by a long shot.
Three times in a row.
Despite the Sapphire not having drag tires, it explodes off the starting line.
The Lucid Air Sapphire gets to 60 feet in 1.44 seconds while the Demon 170 is a hair behind at 1.48 seconds.
Given the Sapphire’s track record, no one was surprised at the result.
“Lucid should just make theme park rides at this point. That thing launches harder than most rollercoasters,” one commenter said.
“If you told me in 2010, that a luxury EV would beat a 6.2 L V8 muscle car with +1000 HP, I would have never believed you,” another commenter said.
Next, DragTimes fans are hoping to have a Rimac Nevera put in the ring with the Sapphire.
